2024 Highlight Reels

Its unfortunate that I haven’t given this blog the attention it deserves. In 2025 I certainly seek to do better but also ready to give myself grace when I fall short because-uh- a sis is busy!

Great news: when the mood strikes, I create short videos on Instagram or Youtube and entitle them as “Yve’s Reads” where I briefly share about a book I’m currently reading or about to read. I share a few of them below.

Even better: I leveraged GoodReads to track my reading and I think I read over 30 books in 2024 which is a win! Many of which were authors from the black diaspora and even more from Christendom.

Sidenote: I’ve since moved to Storygraph. I just like their app better—the user interface and the reader-friendly attributes are far more engaging and what I want to see in a Reading app.

Sidenote Sidenote: that drama with Fable was wiiild. I made an account with them sometime in 2023 I think but I found it too cumbersome to use, plus as an 80s baby, I’ve been burned out on the overabundance of virtual connectivity. I’d much rather be in an in-person community where I discuss and gush about books.

Back on topic: In 2024 I also made it a practice to seek out and patronize small, independent bookstores in my surrounding area—as well as locations I came across during random traveling. Sometimes I made a video about these visits and uploaded them to IG or YT. I have a growing list of bookstores I want to visit across the country so I will definitely post about it.

In 2025 I plan to read even more—when you read better, you write better. Plus its fun! Will I continue doing reels? Eh. We’ll see….
